The fierce cold windstorm rages all across the place as Nia sets her foot to a place that the painting leads. Fortunately, she wear proper attire for this kind of situation hence the cold didn't bother her as much as it should. Nia is quite impressed, if she doesn't know better - She wouldn't expect that this is within the newest gym building and part of one of the challenges that they propose. Chigusa follows her from behind quietly, not affected by the blizzard all around her.

Nia approaches the gym leader that who is also be the actor of this challenge alongside the little boy beside him. "Good day, nice weather isn't it" Nia cracks a joke, shoving both of her hands to her pocket where she stores a hand warmer. "Looks like that you are struggling to try to reach the cave. Let me give you a hand" Nia offers help, playing with the supposed plot. Nia is really fond of the idea of diving into the paint and relieving the story behind it, not once but many times has Nia daydream about entering her favorite books.

While Chigusa quickly noticed that it is not an actual human child, Nia still thinks that Xander uses a child actor for this challenge. The maternity side of Chigusa rises up quickly and shields the child with her huge body from the cold wind that has been rampaging since earlier. Nia notices how Xander is shivering from the cold and takes out of her pocket warmer - "Here, this is for you and the kid. It ain't much but I think it would help you a little bit" Nia put the pocket warmer to Xander's pocket before leading the way.

Chigusa follows them while making sure that her body is still protecting the Smeargle from the cold wind. Nia makes sure that her hand doesn't come out from her own pocket. "Let us move at a considerable pace, not too fast where we sweat out all of our body heat nor too slow where the cold wind will eventually freeze us. Let's go, I know we can do it" Nia says cheerfully and optimistically.

Xander took the warmer and stuffed it into his pocket with a nod. He's still shivering from the cold, but the added warmth helped. [break][break]

Lapras makes an excellent shield from the assaulting snow. Smeargle pulled Xander closer to it as they walked. Face no longer feeling the sting of ice behind the mammal's bulk, the gym leader muttered under his breath. [break][break]

"Thank you..." [break][break]

Her optimism would be infectious if it weren't for the scar on his heart. It's not her fault that it pulsed in pain the further they went. This challenge was designed to torment him and push her. [break][break]

Something stirs to life ahead of them. Its yellow eyes bleed an eerie light behind the icy curtain. Lapras will see it before the others, giving her enough time to react as two Dragon Darts torpedo toward the mountainside - threatening an avalanche.[break][break]

Xander doesn't show any sign of an upbeat attitude but Nia acknowledges that not everyone is as compatible as her with a cold wind of winter like this. While she would mostly be dying under the heat of summer, she would get more energetic when the weather is getting cold. While they are walking through the blizzard to the cave where they are going, Chigusa suddenly cries out while glaring at a flying object from afar. Nia finally notices it and quickly order Chigusa to expel a strong water current with the hope of changing the trajectory of the torpedo. A strong current of Hydro Pump flies at a great speed toward the torpedo hoping for it to change the trajectory to the sky.

"Please, let this work" Nia silently pray while thinking of an alternative in the case of a failure. "Sorry, but please huddle closer to the back of my Lapras and be prepared for anything"

The Dreepy-missiles zoomed through the blizzard like comets. Their destination, the manufactured cliffside, is one they'll never reach. A well-timed HYDRO PUMP forcing them to explode harmlessly in the air, melting snow into water. [break][break]

At Nia's instruction, Xander and his Smeargle stepped closer to the Lapras. "You're so comfortable in the snow." the opposite of him, "But ghosts haunt this mountain too." [break][break]

On cue, the creature responsible for the attack made itself known, appearing in a cloud of shadow before Lapras. His reptilian eyes locked and narrowed on the mammal. Dragapult floated, a stationary obstacle in the group's path.

The missile has been successfully disarmed and the man with his Smeargle is getting closer to Chigusa as per her request warning her about a possible danger. "I am used to cold and most of my pokemon is consists of an Ice-type Pokemon so that's why." Nia talks while looking around. Suddenly, a Dragapult appears menacingly trying to become an obstacle for them. Nia could engage the dragapult in combat but that would take time and that would lessen the chance for them to survive in this cold. While Nia is used to the cold that doesn't mean she is immune to the cold, she need eventually go to a cave and lit up a bonfire. In a snap after the appearance of Dragapult, Nia quickly warns everyone - "Close your ears! Chigusa, our new guest needs to sleep." Nia orders the man and his Smeargle to close their ears as Chigusa starts to let out a beautiful melody that lulls people into a slumber. Nia close her ears as tight as possible, if everyone fell asleep here - It would be dangerous but that risk is something Nia would take.
